HELP! Gallery only works with individual images - can't slide from one image to the next

I've implemented prettyPhoto on my site as a gallery slider. However, it's necessary to open one image at a time, close it and then go open the next. I don't seem to have the 'next' arrow on the image when it's opened to 'slide' to the next image in the gallery. Is there a simple answer? Thanks to anyone who can help.
