how to remove first image from prettyphoto gallery

Is there a way to remove the first image from the prettyphoto gallery? Currently, the automatic behavior shows both the main product image and product gallery images, I'd like a script that could remove the first (product image) so that prettyphoto only shows the interior product gallery images, but still launches prettyphoto if the main image is clicked.
