Quicktimes not downloading progressively

I'm using prettyPhoto on a new site of mine with Quicktime movies sitting in my video folder on my webspace (set as Progressive Download With Compressed Headers via AfterEffects export). Thing is, when I click on the thumbnail, it seems the movie file is not progressively downloading, but instead displays a blank prettyPhoto floating window interface until it finally (fully) downloads. Is there anything I can or need to do to make it progressively download so it's not such a long wait? I've coded everything as outlined in the documentation, and the files themselves are (supposedly) exported as Progressive.
Faling all that, is there any way to Progressively download a file without prettyPhoto? If I embed the file in my page with the standard / method, it seems to do the same non-Progressive download (showing the Q until it is fully downloaded).
Only solution I could find to any of this is to put my clips on YouTube, as that seems to stream the download (and just seems faster overall).
Can anyone give me any help on this?
