First, thank you for creating prettyPhoto, which works beautifully.
Question: how do I eliminate the mid level enlargement of a photo? Let me explain: when you click the thumbnail for a landscape image (an image whose width is greater than its height), the image immediately enlarges to the full size JPEG. However, when you click the thumbnail of a portrait sized image (an image whose width is less than the height- something tall and narrow) then the image enlarges once, and then, by clicking the link in the upper right hand corner of this mid-sized image, the viewer can enlarge the image yet again, to a third, maximum size. Can I eliminate the middle step? I want a user who clicks the thumbnail of a portrait sized image to immediately see the largest JPEG possible for that image without being forced to see the mid-sized JPEG. Is it possible to eliminating the mid sized image? Please let me know. Thank you for your help.
Open your Browser Window that you are viewing your image/ thumbnails in - more.
Expand the dimensions of the browser window.
This is a mechanism built into prettyPhoto. The little icon in the top right ONLY shows up when an enlarged image that you are attemtping to view will expand beyond the defined area of the Window you are viewing it in.
You can also adjust the the code attached to the link that defines the height and width to a smaller area that fits within the browser window [but this might cause unwanted clipping]
Example - if you have an image that normally [expanded] displays at 600w x 1200h and your monitor is set to 1280w x 960h you will have clipping at 240px.
If you tweak the dimensions for the display DIV and the CSS seperately as there are serveral mechanisms that control the display window you can make it so it will display expanded [without the upper right expand icon] and force scrolling.
BUT forcing the page to scroll invites other issues on different browsers [and versions] using javascript windows. good luck.
