loading element on from another page

I've been using prettyPhoto now for about a year and its the best plugin of its kind. Lately I've been wondering if its possible to load fragments of another HTML page. jQuery's .load() function allows this and I'm sure someone else would be interested in this as well...
See here: http://api.jquery.com/load/. I'm just wondering if similar functionality exists, or can exist in the future. This basically would blend prettyPopin + prettyPhoto together in a few ways.
Any help would be great!
