display prettyPhoto lightbox in parent from iframe

    Hello everybody,

    I want to use the prettyPhoto lightbox plugin on my bands website. Thing is, I can't get it working the way I'd like to.

    For an example of what I have so far look here: http://www.38mm.nl/03-hs/test04/index.html

    I've made an index.html containing an iframe (media.html in this case). Now if you click on Hangover Sunday - Fire or any of the other video's the prettyPhoto lightbox does its job awesomely inside the iframe. My (maybe obvious) mission for this website is to have the prettyPhoto lightbox appear on top of the frame, on top of index.html .

    I hope you guys can help me, I've been searching forums and websites for some weeks now, so I hope this can finally be fixed.

    If any code is helpfull let me know, I'll be happy to paste it here.

    As for the design of the site, can I make a few suggestions?

    Tough, because I will.

    Tone down the background image. A lot. Even consider making it black and white. It makes the page VERY busy.

    The image to the left of the iframe is HUGE. You can get that down to 50k, at least. Right now it's 150k.

    As for your problem:

    Why use an iframe? Why not a div? You'll be able to control prettyPhoto a LOT easier.

    Are you familiar with javascript? This would make the whole show go a lot smoother. If not, I might be able to steer you in the right direction. I'm working on a project now that needs the same treatment.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I agree on the background image, it is a temporary bg (mainly to test out the css), everything is wip here, so any pointers are appreciated!

    I did think about putting it all in a div, but I didn't know how to link the different contents into that div.
    I am new to css and javascript, I ran through only a few jquery tutorials before starting this website.

    Any pointers and tips are welcome, as I am kinda new at this.

    yes! guys! How to open prettyPhoto in parent document from an Iframe? Everything works well for me but its just inside the Iframe.

    We would also like to know how to open prettyPhoto over the parent window from an iframe. We agree with guejoe, everything works except this one aspect.
