How to code mov inside DIV using prettyPhoto

Help, I'm sort of a beginner to all this! How do I code the prettyPhoto script at the bottom of my html to get my movie playing with a movie inside a div? ("layout" div is inline, btw. Matter, don't matter? I don't know.) Here's the stuff that is in the body of my html:

‹a title="mymovie" rel="prettyPhoto" href="http://examplewebsite/mymovie.mov?width=320&height=240"› ‹img src="pics/mymoviepic.jpg" alt="My Movie!" /›‹/a›
‹/div›
...and here's some of the code I have related to prettyPhoto:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("div.layout").prettyPhoto();
});
What on earth am I doing wrong? Thanks!
