No loading animation/icon

First off, I'd just like to thank you for the fantastic plugin. It's serving me brilliantly and I hope to continue using it for ages. Now for the inevitable problem: I recently updated WP-prettyphoto from version 1.5.6 to 1.6. Upon doing so, the plugin suddenly stopped working properly. It was activated, and I could change options and all that stuff, but clicking on an image in a post wouldn't invoke prettyphoto, it would just display the image on its own (default WP behaviour). So, I deactived and removed 1.6, copied over 1.5.6 again and reactived that. Now, I don't get a loading icon/animation when I click on an image. It comes up in the prettyphoto window, and everything else is there exactly as it should be, except for that loading animation. I've checked that all the files are present, and they are indeed. Thanks for checking it out, but it's just the the loading animation that's not working. As I mentioned, the rest of the plugin is behaving itself fine. Someone else has also pointed out that they're having trouble with this (albeit not with the Wordpress version).

I'm having the same issue at GeometriX regarding the loading gif not showing up. You can see the issue at http://www.onelargeprawn.co.za/2010/02/01/flying-101-kululas-livery-is-factual-quite-funny/ when moving from one image to another.
I'm also using v.16.
